Replacing the screen on a MacBook Pro 14-inch the Apple M3 chip is a delicate and complex process that involves disassembling several components of the laptop. The screen assembly is an integrated part, including the display, hinges, and other components, which means replacing the screen usually involves replacing the entire top assembly. Currently, the only available fix is Apple’s System Configuration tool . Alternatively, two soldered chips can be transferred between the screen controller boards.

- Pentalobe screwdriver – for the bottom case screws
- Torx screwdrivers – for internal screws
- Plastic spudger or opening tool
- Tweezers
- Suction cups – to help remove the screen assembly
- Anti-static wrist strap – to prevent electrostatic discharge
Remove the Bottom Case
Shut down your MacBook Pro completely and disconnect it from any power sources and peripherals. Use the Pentalobe screwdriver (P5) to remove the screws securing the bottom case of the MacBook Pro. Press a suction handle into place near the front edge of the lower case, between the screw holes. Pull up on the suction handle to create a small gap under the lower case. Carefully lift the bottom case using a spudger or opening tool.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the logic board and use a plastic spudger to disconnect it to avoid any electrical damage during the repair. Disconnect the battery board data cable by sliding it out from its socket on the logic board.
Disconnect the Display Cables
If the two screen cable bracket buffers are removed alongside the brackets, then skip this step. Pull the two screen cable bracket buffers straight up and out of the frame to remove them. Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the cable shields and gently disconnect the display cables from the logic board using a spudger.
Remove the Screen
Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the hinges to the MacBook’s body.Once all screws are removed, carefully lift the screen assembly away from the body of the MacBook Pro. Be cautious as the hinges might still be slightly attached, and gently work them free. Remove the topmost screw last, using one hand to steady both halves of the MacBook Pro to make sure they don’t separate and fall over unexpectedly.
Install the New Screen
Carefully reattach the hinges to the MacBook’s chassis using the Torx screws.Reconnect the display cables to the logic board and secure them with the metal shields. Install the hinge screws without fully tightening them. Center the hinges and check for gaps or rubbing on either side.
