iPhone 15 Pro vs. iPhone 14 Pro Disassembly and Comparison
We will be disassembling the iPhone 15 Pro and comparing it with the iPhone 14 Pro to analyze the key differences in their internal structure, repairability, and design modifications. The iPhone 15 Pro, now featuring a titanium frame, is notably lighter than its predecessor. As the disassembly process for both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is quite similar.

Reformtech-certified repairs are performed by trusted experts who only use genuine parts – designed, tested and manufactured for OEM safety and performance standards. you may receive warnings about your replacement part and lose access to battery health data, but your new battery will otherwise work normally.

Front Screen Analysis
Like the iPhone 14 Pro, the screen of the iPhone 15 Pro opens in the same manner. However, upon closer inspection, we notice some key differences:
- The iPhone lacks the two opening positions for proximity sensors.
- A newly applied, stronger white adhesive makes refurbishment more challenging.
- The screen thickness has slightly increased compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.
Display Backside Comparison
Examining the back of the screen reveals further changes:
- The iPhone features a much narrower bezel than the iPhone 14 Pro.
- The display connector size remains unchanged.
To test compatibility, we attempted to connect the iPhone 14 Pro’s display cable to the motherboard. While the display functioned normally, touch input did not work, confirming that the two screens are not interchangeable.
Camera System and Logic Board Differences
Upon analyzing the camera components, we found several key changes:
- The iPhone 15 Pro includes a LiDAR protecting foam, which was absent in the iPhone 14 Pro.
- The ultra-wide and telephoto connectors are now separate and have switched positions.
- The flood illuminator in the iPhone 15 Pro is integrated into the dot projector, modifying the TrueDepth camera system.
Examining the logic board reveals additional differences:
- The NAND chip position has been altered, with fewer surrounding components, making repairs potentially safer.
- NFC, amplifier, and wireless charging connectors have been repositioned to the back.
- The motherboard schematic no longer includes space for a preset card slot, making eSIM conversion more challenging.
Battery Comparison
Both batteries retain the L-shaped design, but there are some modifications:
- The iPhone 15 Pro has additional cathode and anode components.
- Battery capacity: iPhone 15 Pro – 3274mAh vs. iPhone 14 Pro – 3200mAh.
- Battery weight: iPhone 15 Pro – 44.4g vs. iPhone 14 Pro – 44.8g.
- Connector cables are identical, but swapping them resulted in battery data being unreadable, with no charge and no battery health detection.
Charging Cable and Back Glass Differences
We compared the charging cables and back glass designs:
- The iPhone charging cable appears almost identical to the 14 Pro’s.
- Swapping in another original cable resulted in normal charging with no pop-up message.
- The iPhone 15 Pro’s back glass can be removed separately, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro requires a laser machine for repair due to its single-piece construction.
Wireless Charging and Rear Casing Test
Examining the wireless charging system and back casing revealed:
- The flashlight and microphone transmitter are now integrated into the wireless charger.
- When fitting an iPhone 15 Pro Max back cover onto the iPhone 15 Pro motherboard, the device powered on and wireless charging worked. However, the phone kept auto-restarting due to a wireless charging error.
- We are investigating whether this part is encrypted and will provide further updates.
